Life of Pi is an adventure drama film. This movie was directed and produced by Ang Lee and written by David magee. This movie is based on Yann Martels 2001 novel of the same name. The storyline revolves around two survivors of a shipwreck. One is a sixteen year old Indian boy who is named Pi patel and the other is a Bengali tiger named Richard Parker who is lost in the pacific ocean for 227 days.

This movie begins with a young writer. Who meets middle aged Pi patel. The writer wanted to know Pi's life story because it would be a good subject for a book. Pi patel tells the story about his life.
This story starts with pleasant music and the scene of a zoo, where there are beautiful flamingos, giraffes, black bears, monkeys and many more animals.
Pi's mamaji was a great swimmer, he taught him to swim, he was very passionate and professional, he swam in every world famous pool. Pi's father names pi as piscine molitor patel after piscine molitor, a famous swimming pool in france.
Pi's childhood spent in Pondicherry, in secondary school in Pondicherry, he adopted the Greek letter "Pi '' as his nickname to avoid bullying.
He was raised in a Hindu family, his mother tells him the story of lord krishna, that when lord krishna was a little boy, he contains the universe in his mouth, and many times they visit at Aarti of lord vishnu, their father taught him that boys don't believe in religion,

Once Pi's family visit the town, there they both get extremely bored, and Pi's younger brother Ravi challenges Pi to drink holy water of that nearer church, Pi goes there and he drinks. There he met one man and showed a picture of Jesus and he asked that man why he would hang like this and he also had a question that if he was perfect then why he created this world that man answered all his questions. He follows all three religions and just wants to love God. His mother supports his desire to grow but his rationalist father tries to secularize him. His father told him that to follow all religions then better to not follow anyone.
Pi's family owns a zoo, and he takes interest in the animals, especially a Bengal Tiger who is Richard parker. Richard Parker was a hunter and his name switched to tiger. Once Pi wanted to feed the tiger his father rushed on and was very angry at him and said that he is not your friend. Pi believes that animals have souls, but his father denies that "you just saw the reflection of your emotion in his eyes, nothing else."
When Pi got 16 years old, he met Anandi. He went to dance classes to play music there he saw Anandi and started to like her. when Anandi and her friends wondering in market Pi follow her she notice him and asked "why you follow me?" Pi feels ashamed and he starts to ask about her dance steps and also asks about the hidden Lotus. What is the meaning of that? She gives a pleasant smile to him and they both visit the zoo . That night his father announces that they must move to Canada where he intends to settle and spell and sell the animals. This was the time when he had to break his girlfriend's heart when they met last time near the sea. Pi promises Anand that he will come back for her. The family books passage with the animals on Japanese freighters.
At night when everyone was sleeping Pi woke up because of the sound of a storm he reached on deck and he saw a ship sinking in water. He got afraid and went down to save his family but there was no one, only animals rushing on deck. He struggles to find his family but a crewman throws him into a lifeboat. A zebra jumped into the boat with him.He saw the ship sink into the Mariana Trench, drawing his family.
After the storm Pi awakes in the lifeboard with the zebra and is joined by a monkey and hyena. A spotted Hyena emerges from under a tarpaulin, forcing Pi to retreat to the end of the boat. The hyena kills the zebra and letter the orange juice a monkey Richard Parker emerges from under the tarpaulin, killing The Hyena before retreating back to the cover for several days.
Pi makes a small raft from flotation vests which he tethers to the lifeboat to be safe from Richard Parker. Pi begins to fish for tiger to save his life, if he doesn't serve food to Richard Parker the next meal must be skinny boy Pi. When the tiger jumps into the sea to hunt the fish, and starts swimming towards Pi, Pi considers letting him drown, to look into his eyes, he ultimately helps him back into the boat.
Pi trains Richard Parker to accept him in the boat, and he realizes that carings for the tiger is helping to keep himself alive. He learns to get drinkable water, and also learns to get control of Richard Parker, to offer him meat, he also saves water for Richard Parker.
The ocean seems full of orange color, the color of hope, he hopes that he will definitely survive. The ocean is an archetype, and represents regeneration and balance. They don't lose hope, and once provide food for them. They survived to eat fishes.
One night, a humpback whale destroys the raft and its supplies. That night's scene was extremely beautiful, that giant whale swims near him, the ocean is full of blue light. Next day when Pi arieves on a boat for food, the group of flying fish picked them. They feel that they are dying, they lose hope and Pi puts Richard Parker in his lap. The picture of his mother and animals, and the sinking of the ship reflected in the sea.
Next morning, they wake up on a floating island. It is a lush jungle of edible plants. Freshwater pools and a large population of meerkats, enabling Pi and Richard Parker to eat and drink and regain strength. At night, the island transforms into a hostile environment. The water pools turn acidic at night and it looks amazingly beautiful.
Pi and Richard Parker leave the island to find land, eventually reaching mexico. When they reach the sea shore he doesn't have enough strength. Yo took a boat on the seashore and he lay down there, his cheeks kissing sand. Pi is heartbroken that Richard Parker does not acknowledge him before disappearing into the jungle.
Insurance agents for the Japanese freight company interview him, but do not believe his story and ask what really happened. He tells a different story, in which the animals are replaced by humans: his mother for the orangutan, an animal sailor for the zebra, and the ship's brutish cook for the hyena. When the writer recognizes the parallels between the two stories, Pi says that it does not matter which story is true because his family died either way.
Share your view
This movie is worth watching, there were amazing, extremely beautiful scenes and pleasant music. The most beautiful thing is that Richard Parker and Pi, they broke the universal rule of death and survived together.
Which version of the story is more appealing
The version of the book and the version of the movie have their own amazement, but the movie version is more appealing than the book. In the book we have to imagine all the scenes, and in the movie we just enjoy every scene, there were amazing scenes, and with the pleasant muzic.
significance of "Tiger"
Because "Tiger '' Pi survives, without tiger Pi can't survive. Tiger makes him attentive at every moment. "Tiger" is the only one who could talk in that lonely ocean.
Significance of "Island"
When they reach the island they both get hope that they could get food, and clean water. Island symbolizes hope here. There they regain the strength to survive. At night that island converts in full of blue light, because the water turns into acid.
Difference between spirituality and religion
In simple terms religion is believing in someone's else's experience, and spirituality is having your own experience.
Religion is based on fear, and spirituality is freedom.
In This movie Pi follow three religion to make God happy, he believe in God, and wanted to baptize, but when he lost his family in storm, he begins God to save him, in second large storm, the storm is on the top of its anger, there are heavy sea waves, hitting his boat, Pi didn't get afraid he should and said that "I am not afraid at you ! I lost my family, I surrendered, what do you want now? "
At the end he thanked his father, because of his father's lessons he survived he followed many religions, but none of that God helped him.
